Travel during covid19: Santorini

The beautiful Greek island of Santorini nestled in the Aegean sea between Crete and mainland Greece – is really the quintessential Greek island of your dreams. Quaint cliff top villages, stunning sunsets, sparkling blue vistas, historic churches and delicious food.

I travelled to Santorini in August, just after the first Covid-19 wave in Europe. It was certainly much quieter than usual – pre Covid the island welcomed 2 millions visitors per annum. I flew with LOT Polish airlines – it was part of their Covid strategy called “LOT na Wakacje” of connecting summer destinations with Warsaw.

On arrival In Santorini I was tested for Covid (thankfully I returned a negative result).

I stayed in budget accommodation in Karterados – 25 minutes from the island’s capital Fira. During my 3 day trip I experienced most of the island’s charms including Red Beach and Oia’s famous blue rooftops. The views were out of this world and it is certainly a place where I’d like to return to one day.
